Rare floral border wine red field, 16 point central medallion based on Sheikh-Safi mosque ceiling. 🕌 Khorasan in modern day Iran is a region known for the best quality Persian rugs due to design, colours, quality of wool and superior knot count, creating the finest finely woven rugs by master weavers. It includes Birjand, Mashad and Moud.
This is a rare collector's rug from Birjand, finely woven by hand with Persian wool on cotton and dates from the mid 1900s. Condition is excellent for age, great vintage condition with strong colours, sharply defined hand drawn unique designs, this is a one-off that would never have been replicated. The border is particularly unusual and beautifully woven. Colours are slightly dulled in pics due to current miserable weather, it's infinitely better in real life, so do come see it for yourself!
Measurements are 215cm x 130cm, no moths, no stains, no rips, no pet hair, no smells etc, ready to roll out and use on floor or wall.
